Home Décor Over the past 2 Decades: Past to Present
All the 90s kids out
there, we have already seen all the trends that have been going on over the
past 2 decades. From, the change in fashion to living, we have seen the world
change its course in many different directions.
Painters and decorators at Glasgow have been in this business for a long time now and have
experienced every type of interior decoration done in the past 20 years.
There is a big
difference seen in the past 20 years in the world of interior decorating. There
are a lot of factors that affect the trends, and home décor trends are
ultimately affected by what happens in the world. Now, we are freer than ever
to explore more with the trends and what we like or dislike. Remember, there is
no longer a need to be fit in with the trends.
With this let's take
a look at the trends that we have been seeing through decades. We are sure some
of them you most likely remember!
The 2000s

The 2000s was also a
decade for re-using old items and furniture into a new trend.
"Vintage" became trendy by the latter half of the decade, many homes
embraced distressed or deliberately retro pieces to make their rooms look more
vintage-like. This period was also more into DIY, because of the shifts in TV
programming, which many people were inclined to try and follow what showed in
telly would work or not.
Thankfully, the 2000s
saw an end to pesky puffed-up hanging wallpapers at Glasgow and Artex style
ceilings, they are still around to some degree nowadays, but, they fell off at
the end of the 90s.
We really did love
the continental style back in the 2000s – if you had a Tuscan themed bathroom,
you already know what we mean!
The 2010s

By the 2010s, many homeowners decided to shift from the polished look and people showed interest in shabby chic. This means people took on barn doors and worn wooden fittings to make things look more authentic. The 2010s mainly focused on the natural look rather than the synthetic look.
This look was
inculcated in the kitchen spaces, too. There is a huge difference between the
kitchens of the 2000s compared to the kitchens of the 2010s. In this period, we
saw people deconstruct their cupboards and keep open shelving to make things
more accessible and convenient.
Wall painters use to
use vivid colors such as purple and pink may have appeared a bit inelegant at
that time, and people started looking at milder tones to paint their interiors.
Now
This is the right
time to truly show off your tastes and personality without any guilt.
